Iber is a two-dimensional modeling suite for free-surface hydraulics and environmental flows in rivers, estuaries, and floodplains. Developed jointly by GEAMA (University of A Coruña), FLUMEN (UPC-BarcelonaTech), and CIMNE (International Center for Numerical Methods in Engineering), Iber solves the depth-averaged shallow water equations on unstructured meshes to simulate unsteady flow with wetting and drying.
The software includes modules for turbulence, sediment transport and morphodynamics, water quality, and habitat assessment, enabling integrated studies of floods, dam-breaks, river restoration, channel design, and environmental impact. Its GIS-enabled graphical interface streamlines terrain import, mesh generation, parameter assignment, boundary-condition setup, and post-processing. Typical outputs include water depth, velocity, shear stress, inundation extent, and sediment erosion–deposition patterns.
Widely used by researchers, consultants, and public agencies, Iber offers a reliable and efficient framework for 2D hydraulics and ecohydraulics, supporting calibration, scenario analysis, and interoperability with common geospatial data formats.
Iber is developed by GEAMA, FLUMEN and CIMNE and is used by 3 users of Software Informer. The most popular versions of this product among our users are: 1.9 and 2.3. The names of program executable files are command.exe, gid.exe.
